Doctor Who

Postby The_Boss » Sat Apr 15, 2006 1:15 am

Doctor Who starts with a new 13 episode series tonight on BBC1.

I would be interested if any of our older members who watched the series years ago and watch tonight can tell us how it compares especially with all the new technology available to the producers now.

Is it still one of those programmes where the whole family might sit down to watch together?

Well I was not a great fan of Doctor Who when I was young but I have really enjoyed the last series and am getting into this series.

I was a fan of both the original series and the new ones, and I have to say I love them both.
Obviously, the new production does have more money and more time than the old producers could have dreamt of, however, the central themes and ideas of the show haven't changed. The Doctor is still, beneath it all the same lonely traveler.
The new series does have a far greater emotional depth to it, possibly at the expense the longer more measured plot of the old days, but I wouldn't swap it!
